Chinese retailers have entered the market with a PRICE WAR STRATEGY - we are celebrating. I warned about Trump's so called HELP and I am warning
those celebrating this to calm down. We are about to witness what the Chinese call nèijuǎn - a time when all of you will WORK AND WORK AND WORK WITH NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT.
I am predicting this today - 3rd October 2026.
Unknown to you, the Chinese Price War are BACKED BY THEIR GOVERNMENT THROUGH STATE SUBSIDIES. You can't compete with State Subsidy. You want to lower your price to beat the Chinese price, you are joking. You will make NOTHING because they are also MAKING ALMOST Nothing but they get whatever they lose from their government backed SUBSIDIES. It's called INVOLUTION. The West dreads it, Nigeria celebrates it.
Expect many LOCAL businesses to COLLAPSE. That your brother or sister who used to make money from importation might close shop soon.
Many Nigerian traders will soon close shop. Prayers won't solve this. It is called the CHINA SHOCK.
Consumers will celebrate today. Many people in Nigeria will even think that our own brothers were unnecessarily expensive. It will look like an eye opener. But unknown to them, its a STATE SPONSORED MARKET TAKE OVER. Your own local suppliers were already dealing with local competition with no government backing. They are now dealing with DIRECT FOREIGN COMPETITION. They won't survive. They will be forced to close shop.
Now you will understand why I STUBBORNLY REFUSED TO CONDEMN THE SOUTH AFRICAN PROTEST AGAINST FOREIGN NATIONALS WHO OWN SHOPS IN THE LOCATIONS. NOTE: I condemn xenophobia but I support the ideology that local retail economy MUST BE PRESERVED for locals. Failure to do this will disrupt the entire economy. I studied ECONOMICS IN MY MBA. Please argue only if you did the same.
And for your information, the Government of Nigeria will DEFINITELY come hard on Chinese retail invasion. Mark today's date. It happens everywhere. It is not just trade. It is a matter of NATIONAL SECURITY.
I've been to Europe and done business in Europe and I've studied how they treat Chinese retailing. I live in South Africa and I know how the government is fighting foreign retailing.
But because of ignorance, Nigerians are celebrating immediate price relief without asking very important questions - if they can afford to sell this cheap, how much profit are they really making? If they are not making profit, who is PAYING THE DIFFERENCE.
