If you come from a poor background, you have less room for expensive mistakes. Some mistakes can set you back many years because you don't have family wealth or leverage to cushion the consequences.

Here are the big ones
1. Choosing a course to study or career path solely because it sounds prestigious, without considering market demand and earning potential
 
2. Quitting your job to start a business with your entire life savings without first building expertise in that area of business.

3. Spending your early high-income years upgrading your lifestyle and showing everyone you are no longer poor instead of building cashflow assets.
