INVESTING IN YOURSELF IS THE ONE INVESTMENT THAT NEVER LOSES VALUE


The greatest investment you can ever make is in yourself.
Every book you read broadens your mind. Every new skill you acquire increases your value. Every positive habit you cultivate shapes your character. Every challenge you overcome strengthens your resilience.

Self-development is an investment that yields lifelong dividends. As you continue to grow, your opportunities expand, your confidence deepens, and your impact increases.

Become a better version of yourself every day, because when you grow, everything connected to you has the potential to grow as well.
 
As a young man, the first lesson you should learn before making money is how to make your money stay with you.
If you cannot master the art of keeping money, you will never master the art of growing wealth.
When money leaves you for another master, don't be surprised if the person you thought would stay with you also leave you for another provider.
Let your resources be with you if you want your loved ones stay with you.
 
When you are at the lowest level in your financial life, don’t spend your time learning forex trading, stock trading, cryptocurrency trading, betting and every other skills or ways of making money that requires you to invest money before you can earn from it.

Most importantly, don’t put your money into something you can’t control the outcome to a large extent.

At this phase in your life, you only need three things:

1 — Get a job

Yes, go and get a job.

There are jobs out there that doesn’t require you to have your first degree.

Many of them can pay you anywhere from 100k to 150k monthly. Ignore the people demonizing 150k jobs. It’s only your starting point. If you spend 100k on feeding and transportation, you will have a balance of 50k. It can be less than that but just keep your spirit high and your mind open.

Even it’s a teaching job paying 50k monthly, you can negotiate to only attend classes 3 times a week while you use the remaining days of the week to organize lesson classes for students. That access to parents and students can help you earn an extra 100k to 200k through private lessons.

If you have interest in any industry, you can apply to work with them at the informal level and learn more on the job. Examples: event planning, catering services, solar panels & inverters, etc.

2 — Learn a skill that you can make money from without putting any money down

There are many skills like that. You are only asked to pay when you want someone else to pause other important things in their life to teach you or you specifically want to learn from them. That’s why nobody will teach you for free, including me.

Typical examples of such skills are:

— Copywriting
— Meta advertising
— SEO content writing
— Social media management
— Content creation for businesses

You can learn some of them on YouTube and walk street-by-street, DM-to-DM pitching businesses.

Tell them what you can do for them. Show them how you will do it. Tell them to try you for one week to see if they will get result.

You ca talk to 100 businesses and only 10 will respond and out of the 10 who responded, only 2 will give you a chance.

Prayerfully and professionally execute the job so that they will get result.

In the process, you might meet people who understand the importance of this skill you want to deploy for them. They will embrace it with both hands. Manage your risk very and prove yourself to build your social proof.

Share your story as you proceed.

3 — Visit the major car dealers, phone & laptop dealers, shoe shops and egg dealers in your city and promise to sell their products for them in exchange for a commission or at a markup price

If you are selling at a markup price, it means they will give you a small discount while you add something on top.

Let’s assume the product is N4,500 per unit, you can sell it N5,000 or N5,500 per unit.

When people buy them in bulk of 10 and 20, you will make more money.

For more expensive products like laptops and cars, you can make as much as 50k and 100k profit per unit respectively. That’s the minimum you can make from them.

Every day, creatively write about them on social media.

When you ask close friends or strangers for data to stay online so that you can keep pushing the business until you close your first deal, it will be easier for you to get help, not asking for $100 to waste on one Forex Trading platform (because they will swallow that money).

These things I shared here are not strange to me. I’ve done some of them and I also have living witnesses of people here who did some of them after reading my previous posts.

One of the hardest lessons many of us need to learn is this: You cannot sustainably help other people if you are barely surviving yourself.

There is a reason every airline gives the same instruction before takeoff. In the event of an emergency, put on your own oxygen mask first before attempting to help anyone else, even your child.

At first, that sounds selfish.

It isn’t.

If you pass out from lack of oxygen while trying to save someone else, both of you are now in trouble. The best way to save another person is to first make sure you are in a position to do so.

Life works the same way.

Some people are carrying so many people financially that they no longer have room to breathe. They are paying their own bills, paying another person’s rent, sponsoring someone else’s education, settling relatives every month, and constantly responding to emergencies.

Meanwhile, they have no savings, no investments, no financial cushion, and no clear path out of the struggle themselves.

That is not generosity. It is a dangerous way to live.

In Physics, there is a concept called escape velocity. It is the minimum speed an object must reach before it can break free from the Earth’s gravitational pull.

If it doesn’t reach that speed, gravity keeps pulling it back.

Many people never reach financial escape velocity because every time they begin to make progress, more weight is added to them. Before they can build capital, start investing, or grow a business, they are carrying the financial responsibilities of several able-bodied adults.

You cannot keep adding weight to a rocket and expect it to leave the ground.

Get yourself to a place of stability first.

Build your income. Build your savings. Build your business. Build your investments. Give yourself room to breathe.

Ironically, when you become financially stable, you become far more useful to the people you care about. You can help from a position of strength instead of constantly giving from a place of exhaustion.

There is nothing noble about drowning with everyone else.

The goal is to reach the shore first, then turn around and help others across.
 
There is nothing wrong with pursuing after personal ambition. We are all ambitious people as humans. Do not let people who have mastered the art of deception and hypocrisy make you feel any less of your self because you are pursuing personal ambition.

Many of them are pursuing personal ambition too. They have only masked and coloured it with what seems like principle.

Principle is the mask to which their deception can be carried out while the pursue personal ambition.
