If you're about to pay for a tech training today, stop for just 3 minutes and read this first.
It might save you tens or even hundreds of thousands of naira.
In fact, if you're planning to register for my Data Analytics Bootcamp, I still want you to read this.
This is the same advice I give people during my paid career clarity sessions, but I'll share it here for free because I want people to make informed decisions, not emotional ones.
If you've already decided that you want to learn a tech skill, whether it's Data Analytics, UI/UX Design, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, Product Management or any other field, please don't rush to pay anyone immediately.
Start with YouTube.
For example, if you're interested in Data Analytics, go to YouTube and search:
"Best Data Analytics tutorial for beginners 2026"
Always use the current year.
The reason is simple.
Tech changes very fast. New tools come in, old ones become less relevant, and employers expect different things every year. Searching with the latest year gives you a better chance of finding updated tutorials.
Now here's another trick many people don't know.
Don't just click the first video you see.
Open the first five tutorials that appear and spend a few minutes reading the comments.
The comment section is where you'll find the real reviews.
People will tell you whether the tutorial was easy to understand, whether it helped them get started, whether it's outdated, or whether they got confused halfway through.
Within a few minutes, you'll know which one or two tutorials are actually worth your time.
Then watch them properly.
Why do I always advise this?
Because free tutorials help you discover whether you genuinely enjoy the skill.
Sometimes we're excited because everyone is talking about a particular career.
Sometimes we're under pressure because our friends are learning it.
Sometimes social media makes it look like everyone is succeeding with that skill.
But after one or two days of learning it yourself, you'll know the truth.
You'll know whether you enjoy solving those kinds of problems or whether it's simply not for you.
That simple step can save you a lot of money.
I've seen people pay for expensive courses only to realize two weeks later that they don't even enjoy the skill.
I'd rather you spend a few days learning for free first, then pay for structured training when you're convinced this is the right path.
Once you've done that, then a good bootcamp becomes valuable because you're no longer paying to "test" the skill.
You're paying for structure, mentorship, projects, accountability, feedback, career guidance, and a community that helps you stay consistent.
And that's exactly how I want people to join my classes.
Not because they feel pressured.
Not because someone promised them quick money.
But because they've tried it, they like it, and they're ready to take it seriously.
Speaking of that, my next Data Analytics Bootcamp starts on 24th July.
It's a 2-month live online program designed specifically for absolute beginners.
We'll cover **Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and SQL**, work on practical projects, and you'll also get mentorship and career guidance throughout the program.
The fee is ₦50,000.
If you've gone through a few free tutorials and you've decided Data Analytics is the right path for you, I'd be happy to help you build a solid foundation.
Details are in the comment section.
If this post helped you, please share it.
Someone out there is about to spend money on a course they may not even enjoy. You might save them from making that mistake.
