Business Growth

BUSINESS DOESN’T GROW BECAUSE YOU WORK HARDER.

It grows when the right people, systems and decisions begin to work together.

As a Founder or CEO, your job is not to do everything.

Your job is to build a business that can perform even when you are not personally involved in every single decision.

If every approval must come from you, you have created dependency not a system.

If your team cannot execute without constant supervision, you have employees not ownership.

And if the business stops moving when you step away, then you are not yet running a business; you are running a job with a company name.

Build people.
Build systems.
Build accountability.
Build something that can outgrow you.

That is the real meaning of scale.

What part of your business still depends too heavily on you?

For Business Owners In Their 30s...

Sometimes I still can't believe that I'm in my 40s.

I mean, I was 30 years old a few days ago.

(Argue with your phone. 😄)

Anyways…

Many business owners in their 30s think they have plenty of time.

(It happened to me.)

You don't.

These are some things I think can make you…

Or break you.

1. BUILD THE BUSINESS AROUND SYSTEMS.

Not around yourself.

When you are starting, doing everything yourself makes sense.

But don't stay there.

If you disappear for one week...

Your business should still move.

2. LEARN TO MANAGE MONEY.

Making money is one thing.

Keeping it is another.

Many businesses make good money...

But the owner doesn't know where the money went.

Learn your numbers early.

3. CHOOSE YOUR PEOPLE CAREFULLY.

Your first few employees can change the direction of your business.

Some people will help you build.

Some will keep you busy.

Some will create problems you didn't have before.

Don't hire just because you need somebody.

4. STOP TRYING TO LOOK SUCCESSFUL.

The big office can wait.

The expensive car can wait.

The designer clothes can wait.

Build the business first.

Build assets.

Build cash flow.

Build something that can survive without you.

5. LEARN HOW TO MANAGE PEOPLE.

Being a good business owner is not the same as being good at your skill.

At some point, your biggest job becomes getting other people to produce results.

Learn how to:

Hire.

Manage.

Correct.

Reward.

And let people go when necessary.

6. DOCUMENT HOW THINGS ARE DONE.

Don't keep the whole business in your head.

Write things down.

How you sell.

How you serve customers.

How you buy.

How you collect money.

How you report.

How you solve problems.

One day, somebody else will need to do these things.

7. STOP CONFUSING GROWTH WITH BUILDING A COMPANY.

More sales does not automatically mean you have built a better business.

You can double your revenue...

And double your problems.

Grow your people.

Grow your systems.

Grow your management.

Grow your structure.

8. LEARN ONE VALUABLE BUSINESS SKILL EVERY YEAR.

Sales.

Leadership.

Marketing.

Negotiation.

Finance.

Management.

Technology.

AI.

Your business will struggle to grow beyond your own capacity.

So increase your capacity.

9. BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE AHEAD OF YOU.

You don't need to make every mistake yourself.

Find people who have already built what you are trying to build.

Learn from them.

Pay attention.

Ask questions.

Follow who know road.

As you follow who know road...

You too learn the road.

10. REMEMBER THIS.

Your 30s are not just for making money.

They are for building the company that will give you options later.

The decisions you make now...

Will either give you freedom in your 40s...

Or give you a bigger problem to manage.

Just my thoughts.

If you're already in your 40s, 50s or 60s...

What advice would you add for business owners in their 30s?

I was in a corporate training today and the trainer used the concept of S.K.A.T.E to drive down his point.

You need to constantly increase your S.K.A.T.E or you become outdated in your workplace or business.

S - Skill
K - Knowledge
A - Attitude
T - Training
E - Experience

You can S.K.A.T.E yourself out of Poverty!

You can S.K.A.T.E yourself out of Joblessness!

You can S.K.A.T.E your Business into Profitability!

You can S.K.A.T.E your marriage + relationship!

If you notice any area of your life without GROWTH, quietly S.K.A.T.E it.
