Managing Staff in Nigeria

“The Hard Truth About Managing Staff in Nigeria”

Don’t ever leave your hopes in the hands of staff. Work with them strictly on contracts and withhold 15-20% of their pay for the duration of each contract, and only release it when they have completed their service tenure. This way, staff can’t just wake up and leave your company or go against your initial agreement because these are clauses they’ve signed to fulfill. Before they even think of doing that, they already know what will happen, which would be the forfeiture of their 20%. This is the perfect way to handle these issues. Training and equipping your staff with the hope that they will build the dream with you, especially in Nigeria, is a delusional way of doing business. And when something like this happens, everything will first blur in your eyes and you won’t do anything about it. Oops!
