Before you invest in Dangote Refinery IPO

This will shock you… some of you might even rethink Dangote Refinery IPO after this post.

Please fact check me… no emotions… only facts!

Dangote Cement was listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange at ₦135 per share on 26 October 2010.

Dangote Cement is now trading at ₦1,034 today.

If you bought 1000 shares in 2010, you spent only ₦135,000 and your shares would be worth ₦1,034,000 today.

That’s a massive 666% PROFIT.

Jesusssss. Massive.

Oya wait…

In 2010, that 1,000 shares at ₦135,000 represented approximately $890.

Yes, that 135,000 Naira was actually $890.

After 16 years, your $890 investment yielded ₦1,034,000 which is $780.93 today.

While you are celebrating 666% profit in Naira, unknown to you, you have actually LOST THE ENTIRE VALUE of the capital you invested.

If you invested the same money in Apple on the same day Dangote Cement was listed, your N135,000 ($890) would be worth $25,917 today - minus dividends oh.

If you invested that money in Bitcoin on the same day Dangote Cement listed, your ₦135,000 would be worth $457 million today.

I want you to think deeply about this…

Out of excitement, Emeka invested ₦135,000 in Dangote cement on 26th October 2010. Today, 16 years later, that invested is worth less than $780.

But if Charles had invested the same amount in Bitcoin on the same day, he would be worth $457 MILLION DOLLARS today - That’s about ₦605.1 BILLION in Naira.

I’ve fed all the data about the overhyped Dangote Refinery IPO into my personal automated AI trading bot and I asked it to help me decide whether to invest in Dangote IPO, Bitcoin Spot or GOLD - omo, smart investors no Dey follow HYPE OH but data and real technology.

Remember, no emotions… only facts! Fact check me and let’s have an intelligent conversation. Can we bet some money on this - I want someone to put $1000 in Dangote Refinery and I’ll put the same amount in Gold or Bitcoin Spot and give it 3 years and see what happens. Anyone willing to take the challenge?

Lesson: To be a skilled and successful investor, you must remove emotions.

I tried my best to get into the Dangote Refinery Private Placement. I assembled friends and raised about some funds. But our efforts were blocked because it was not just a money thing , it was an inner caucus thing. Only 3% of 120 Billion shares will be listed to the public. Dangote controls almost 85%. And his friends control the rest and tens of millions of you will start fighting for 3%. I mark myself SAFE from the Dangote Refinery FOMO.

Let’s keep building. One day is One day.

Congratulations in advance to everyone participating. Do not be discouraged by this analysis. Go for it. I’m writing for a different audience - the diaspora audience who have access to more options. If you live in Nigeria with very limited investment options, this is a good opportunity for you.

My name is Charles Awuzie and I just think different.

Some Nigerians don’t like to hear the brutal truth.

That’s why it was so easy for the people who asked you to invest in garri storage to disappear with your money.

You want to invest in something you don’t understand how it works and someone is telling you to read about it first and you have the temerity to tell me that I’m discouraging people from investing.

Someone said that if Alhaji Aliko Dangote truly cares about Nigerians he will reduce the price of fuel instead of asking us to come and buy his shares.

When did Dangote tell you that he’s selling shares because he cares about Nigerians?

This man is simply trying to expand his business and he’s asking you if you are willing to share the risks and profits with him.

That’s all.

Another person even told me that if truly he cares about Nigerians he would have asked them to invest when the refinery was under construction so that they can start making money by now.

When people are used to paying for pepper storage and buy-back plan in real estate, they shut their mind to learning how investment works.

How do you want me to pamper you with my response like I’ve always done when you are only after making the money without learning anything at all about the stock market?

“Just tell me what the profit will be if I invest now.”

I’m telling you that there’s no guarantee anywhere and you call that discouragement.

How?

I’ve never said you should buy or not buy. The summary of my message remains that you should READ about the stock market and the prospectus first before investing.

DON’T BUY THE DANGOTE IPO.

People buying the shares today are investing in a business that has already been built. They are putting money into an established vision and waiting for the business to grow, become more profitable and increase in value.

If the business underperforms, the investor bears the investment risk. That’s business.

But think about those who believed in the vision when it was still uncertain.

They took the early risk. They provided the capital. They owned the journey before the journey became valuable.

That is the part of wealth creation many people don’t think about.

There is a difference between investing in someone’s success and owning the journey that creates that success by yourself or with someone.

The public may eventually own shares in the business, but the people who owned the vision from the beginning had ownership before the value was created.

And that is the lesson I am trying to pass across:

(Before I continue: This post should not stop you from buying the IPO. I have bought thousands of units)

Don’t only position yourself to buy into successful businesses. Position yourself to own things while they are becoming successful.

You can criticize this view, and that’s fine. But ask yourself: Are you always going to be the person buying what others have built, or will you build something by yourself or with someone that others will one day want to own?

Because investing can grow your money but ownership is what puts you on the other side of wealth creation.

In 2006 TRANSCORP held its first major IPO

Do y’all remember that very famous IPO offer that was everywhere on TV, Radio and newspapers?

There were no social media acceptance then as it is now, but they also were on different online platforms

Daddy Showkey and several other celebrities then would come on national TV shouting ontop of their voices at us🤣

They told us this IPO was going to change our lives and in a dew years we would be very rich

I was a kid, and me and my brother with the monies we had saved up, as we had saved up quite some money then and with the knowledge we had

We went straight to our stockbroker then at Cashcraft asset managers and he helped us buy the shares

Countdown 2006 to 2026, and that IPO till date still haven’t made us rich 🤑😂

Now liken those people who come on facebook to sell you pipe dreams of how the stock market can make you rich in a few years to Daddy Showkey and other celebrities then

If you imagine this matter well, you should be stoning them every time they sell you these pipe dreams

They are only enticing you with sweet words to attract you to come buy their courses and put you inside WhatsApp group to be collecting your money and become rich themselves

They are just like those fake pastors who will entice you with sweet words to rope you into their church and milk you finish

These stock market businesses and merchants don’t even have so much investment in the stock market, your money is their target
