Do you see what Dangote is doing?
Many of you would say he his doing too much of on social media?"
Launching a business in the internet age means joining conversations that may have nothing directly to do with your products or services. In the past, interview questions would have been designed for Dangote focused entirely on topics like: What is the Dangote Refinery? What was the IPO strategy? What are the growth plans, future projections, and business goals?
But here we have the 36th richest person in the world and the wealthiest Black man talking about his children, gender, women's abilities, his home, and other personal aspects of his life.
When you're building a business, you can't keep shouting, "Buy, buy, buy!" without also sharing who you are, your personality, what makes you think the way you do, your upbringing, your family, and the experiences that shaped you.
Honestly, Dangote is learning from what many of us have been doing here. Marketing in the 21st century is about sharing. People want to know you, your personality, your values, and what makes you tick.
So please stop telling people, "Why don't you just post the business and move on?"
Today business owner talk about thier personality, home, garden, children, and daily life, etc.
Welcome to the future of marketing.
Go and do yours.
